A woman’s birth experience

is not something that just happens to her and then it's over. A woman's birth experience is about who she is, and who she becomes. It defines her, it unmakes her, and it remakes her. It unravels her and it puts her back together again.

Birth Keepers and Sisters

Aaria and Monica are both certified holistic doulas and sisters by blood. Specialising in un-disturbed physiological birth at home, or as it's commonly referred to as 'Freebirth'.

We are passionate about empowering women to put themselves back in the position of authority over their birth and support their family as they reclaim birthing wisdom and traditional birthing skills.

When a baby is born, so is a Mother.

“There is a phase in labour, appropriately called transition, where a woman will meet her breaking point. She'll feel as though she just can't go on, and she is right.

The maiden in her is not strong enough for the task at hand. It's during this time the maiden dies so that the woman can be reborn as a Mother, with her child.

A new, more capable version of herself with far more strength than she has ever known." From Maiden to Mother.

Closing the Birth Portal

In Indigenous Cultures from all over the world, it is said that during labour the Mother’s spirit is traveling in the universe to find and collect her baby’s soul and then birth together.

Our Ancestors, the Wise Women of our lineage, understood that birth is a rite of passage and a sacred shamanic ceremony, that opens the woman's body and energetics to birth her baby.

During a Closing of the Birth Ceremony the spirit is called back to the body, bringing the energy of birth full circle, grounding the Mother back in her body.

What is a Freebirth?

Freebirth, also known as unassisted childbirth, is the intentional choice of giving birth without medical assistance or intervention. This decision often involves delivering the baby at home or in a non-medical environment without the presence of healthcare professionals such as doctors or midwives.
